  1. Probably. VirtualBox is working almost "out of the box" :-) kvm/virt-manager need a lot of tweaking to be fast.

  2. Python may be easily speed-up or converted to C (and then compiled). * PyPy for speeding things up (it's a JIT compiler - still runs in Virtual Machine) * Nuitka for converting it to C and compiling to binary. Maybe developers use that :-)
