"Crowdstrike confirmed! ETA 10 seconds" xD

Some do!
2
Now it is! xD

Do you have something from Crowdstrike installed? I think not ;-)
2
That's partially true. Having most devices connected to the Internet is pretty dangerous but that disaster could be avoided on so many levels: * Developers of that antivirus SHOULD have a better testing environment. They would catch that bug before millions of PC got that update! * Developers of that antivirus could roll out (upload) that update to some of the clients and not to all of them at the same time. * Companies should not use Windows but Linux. It's more secure by default (but experienced administrator is still a must have!).

Do you have something from Crowdstrike installed? I don't think so ;-)

@kelvariw xD
1
Or maybe just do snapshots once per week? ;-)
1
I don't think that ANY Russian company uses (or ever used!) something from CrowdStrike ;-)
1
Do you have something from Crowdstrike installed? I don't think so ;-)
1
Do you have something from Crowdstrike installed? ;-)
1
Except that wasn't a Windows Update ;-)
1
@addydiesel6627 Wasn't it a kernel driver provided by Crowdstrike for their antivirus product? ;-)
1
Yep! That's VERY strange
1
A few percent would ;-)
1
Any Windows machine with antivirus from Crowdstrike. So enterprise ones ;-)
1
True! On Linux you could unload broken module tho ;-)
1
Do you have something from Crowdstrike installed? I think no ;-)
1
It's not for individuals but for big companies ;-)
1
Except that wasn't a Windows Update at all ;-)
1
Or worked as intended? ;-)
1
Is that a real problem or the fact that they didn't tested the update? ;-)
1
Google "Apple's walled garden" ;-)
1
Not exactly. Not having anyone with reasonable IT knowledge in a company is bad ;-)
1
Why your friends use Crowdstrike software? It's VERY expensive for a single user xD
1
Do you have something from Crowdstrike installed? I don't think so ;-)
1
Good luck finding cracked Crowdstrike software xD
1
Yep! I thing it's about familiarity and... lobbying ;-)
1
Do you have Crowdstrike kernel level driver? ;-)
1
Do you have something from Crowdstrike installed? I think not ;-)
1
Microsoft Azure uses Linux tho ;-)
1
Convenience and... lobbying ;-)
1
Nah! It's much faster this way! xD
1
That happened July 19 2024
1
@lemonke5341 To have this problem you should have enterprise antivirus from Crowdstrike. Most likely you don't have it ;-)
1
Do you have something from Crowdstrike installed? I don't think so ;-)
1
@SamyarSamyarj You are most likely don't have that: it's for enterprise and pretty costly ;-)
1
It's REALLY useful if it's done right ;-)
1
Do you have Crowdstrike software installed? I think you don't ;-)
1
@jamescopeland6802 Yep! A little clickbaity ;-)
1
Who let that QA in? ;-)
1
Nope - just delete the broken kernel driver. That's annoying but not that hard
1
Some do test themselves but most don't. That's additional cost.
1
Nope ;-) What was QA doing? Did they even test their updates?
1
He isn't right tho?
1
Crossing ONE finger will brake it in few places at once ;-)
1
Not a smart idea for antivirus ;-)
1
If that was on Linux, that broken kernel module could be easily unloaded.
1
Cost efficiency. They don't care about anything else.
1
@BobbyGeneric145 True! Suits just hope that this would never happen! Until it does! xD
1
Fair point! The thing is: if that was Linux - you could just disable bugged module and fix the problem pretty fast!
1
Do you have something from Crowdstrike installed? I don't think so ;-)
1
Do you have something from Crowdstrike installed? I don't think so ;-)
1
That wouldn't help in any way - that was an Antivirus update.
1
@professormikeoxlong Windows is not a great system for sure. But that was a Crowdstrike problem, mostly
1
@professormikeoxlong Fair point!
1
Because you don't have anything from Crowdstrike installed ;-)
1
True. But on Linux machine you could just unload bricked kernel module ;-)
1
@RunePonyRamblings True!
1
Google "Windows Update Minitool" - it let's you tweak how and what updates you want to get ;-)
1
I just don't eat or drink while I'm watching anything ;-)
1
Yep!
1
Do you have something from Crowdstrike installed? I don't think so ;-)
1
Convenience ;-)
1
Because you don't have anything from Crowdstrike installed ;-)
1
Those PCs had Antivirus from Crowdstrike installed and it has automated updates.
1
Good question ;-)
1
They will get sued and many companies will stop using their software. Most likely.
1
Sadly, it will not
