@neoasura You are very well-informed as regards Highlander lore. I'm impressed. Although I don't want to see an inferior remake of the orginial film, it would be good to see more stories from that particular universe. A prequel, maybe. As opposed to just a sad reboot. Maybe Hollywood should only produce remakes of weaker, inferior orginials. Like the upcoming Dune.

I know I'm probably the only person in the world who thinks this but here goes nothing: I didn't think the film was that bad when I saw it in the cinema at the time. Shit, yes. But, like, Justice League is shit. Prometheus is awful shit. Rise of Skywalker is terribly shit. Most Hollywood product is proper shit. It's all pretty shit. At least this film was like good shit, you know? No? Just me? I mean, I could watch that cute little bald red guy for hours; he's fascinating. I like weird, fascinating shit.

Why don't the bad guys with machine guns just shoot Batman in the mouth? You know, the lower half of his face, which is completely uncovered? Or poke his unprotected eyes out with knives? Or set him on fire with napalm? Or throw a hand grenade at him? Or drop a big net on him? Why is the painted-faces street gang fighting Batman one person at a time, the rest just standing around and watching like it's Fight Club or something? There are like 20 guys to one unarmed superhero: just en-masse jump and overpower the caped cretin. Why has Batman spray-painted cryptic clues in large letters all over the floor when he could just, like, use a pad and pencil and some post-it notes? It would be a lot quicker. Does anyone have to clean said floor? Why is it raining in almost every scene of the trailer like we're in Bladerunner-world? Did Edward Hopper paint any other works apart from Nighthawks? Why am I strangely disappointed if The Critical Drinker fails to mention Tatiana in one of his videos? Will I ever stop asking stupid questions? I'm convinced filmmakers plant plot holes and nitpicks and minor mistakes in their movies just so fans have something to write about and chew over - and so provide the film companies with endless free publicity. That's gotta be what they're up to.

I dream of the day when disabled people of all types will be liberated and free...to be as evil as they bloody well want! RTD is one patronizing sod. If he thinks the old trope of giving baddies in media some kind of physical wound or deformity (a la James Bond, Stars Wars etc etc) - to act as a short-hand, visual representation of evil - is tired or old hat or whatever, that's one thing. But this is just self-righteous virtue signalling. He had no problem watching and rewatching old episodes of Dr. Who for years and years before he even first became its show-runner. Now he's giving wheelchair users sanctimonious, supercilious, limiting lectures about what they can and cannot do; what they can be and cannot be. What the f***?!? "Aye, I can smell shite."

You can't beat a good, original, exciting idea. So come on, Hollywood, find some smart, new writers with innovative ideas and take a chance on new stories... What am I saying? Just pay some overpriced woke hack to reheat some 80s leftovers, stick some CGI nonsense on it and get the latest no-name to sleepwalk their lines over the whole mess. Like you always do. I just don't care anymore TBH. Were there bad films in days and decades gone by? Yes, of course. But there were classics too. What will be the future classics? Where are they now in our culture? Because right now, Hollywood, and by extension, American film, in particular, is seriously screwed. I blame superhero worship and the infantilization of the whole media machine. That and a sickening, sentimental, moral/political preachiness that shows no signs of stopping. Screwed.

The death of River Phoenix - as well as being a terrible tragedy in itself, of course - robbed cinema lovers of many great movies he would no doubt have gone on to make. Most notably of which, perhaps, would have been a good few Indiana Jones prequels. Sad...

Artists and creatives are not fucking racehorses or greyhounds running a race on a track. Art isn't a competition to see who's best, who takes the tape and wins the prize. Oscars, Emmys, Bookers, Nobles Prizes. It's all fucking bollocks. Rich folks slapping each other on the back and making themselves look as special as they feel. Ban them all, I say.
