To find out, for example, if certain groups in society are overrepresented in terms of: arrest and prosecution figures; police violence against the public; stop and search procedures; sexual or physical harassment or intimidation; deaths in police custody, etc, etc. Plus, it could establish whether certain ethnic groups are involved in certain types of crime more than other types of crime: for example, how does gang culture and low societal expectations impact one particular community as opposed to another specific community?
