It's cheap, it's fun, it's comfy, and to all those others commenting....get a job. One more suggestion....go make nice with that dealer you stole the Lyriq from....they could use a friend right about now.

  4. I hear you Car Wizard, but for me, your shop did not look bad in my eyes with the Apollo 911 build. Unfortunate that Tyler didn't mention the 2nd track day, but he probably thought it was good, because when it leaves the Car Wizard, it IS good. Blame it on the kit engineering or lack thereof. No doubt this time around he probably could track it and it will be awesome. So glad you didn't just kick him out of your shop after that blown LS. Good friends shouldn't let fun/work/money come in between them. When does the Car Wizard get his own show? Haha. Other than on YouTube.

One of the things I like about Hoovie's channel is, he's like myself...knows enough to be dangerous with tools and also knows it's cheaper to pay the professional once than to try to fix it 6 times yourself before having to bring it to the professional anyways. I call it the "normal way" to bring a car back. Now...I don't buy hoopties anymore and my rides...are wicked reliable because I pay for the regular maintenance. I look at "modern cars" and I'm kinda not interested in "upgrading" anytime soon because of the cost. Great video though!

  7. 7 engines? Wow! My 1988 Dodge Daytona was almost a Lemon in Massachusetts...for the clutch. But on their last attempt (after 5 already in a year), they finally figured it out and corrected it. The car went another 130k+ miles after that without a hint of failure. During the failures, the dealer and Chrysler rep kept telling me I didn't know how to drive a stick. NOT! Cool stuff Steve and Ed!

  9. Never ever considered marrying someone for their license plate. Things that make you want to go to Prince Edward Island?! I agree on Doug's license plate collection. Lots of time and probably money went into that wall. I decided to create a "personal" one from plates I've had over the years..and I've picked up a few "cute" ones...but my current "claim to fame" is I have a Boston Celtics (bought), Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots plate. As you say...low numbers. I was in the initial 1500 run for the Bruins plate. Initial 10000 for the Patriots plate...so what's that worth? $50? haha.

  18. What awesome advice Josh!! I've driven the Tail maybe 50 times now. Each time is different. Most of that has been in my 2001 Chrysler Sebring Convertible and maybe 1/2 with the top down. Looking forward to my next run through. For sure some great advice on the rest of the area roads too. Don't just "do the Tail" and head out. For comparison, I've also driven Highway 1 in California maybe 50 times now as well, specifically the area from Pacifica to Morro Bay/Cayucos (North to South)....and while it's "Tail like", the speeds and terrain are WAY different. Similar, but you can't drive the same way on each. You'll end up off a cliff for sure.

  20. Ed....we need to have Lady Pam do as many stories as she likes. Doesn't matter the subject...she's so awesome at telling the story, the way it IS/WAS not the way everyone thinks it is/was. Love starting the day with wicked laughs!!! Funny thing is....I enjoyed reading Brock's stuff at Car and Driver from 1986 until 2006...and I had NO idea that he had this awesome woman with him. He never talked about her in his columns. Maybe he was just doing the thing I'd do, and keep her all to myself if I had the chance....so cool she's doing these video stories now!!

  22. Stumbled across Doug on YouTube in early 2013....laughed my butt off, you can see I don't have much of it left..... Love the Range Rover/CarMax story! Used Doug's story as an inspiration the next time I bought a used car. CPO 2015 Lexus RX350 and maxed that warranty out. It was 9 years old when the "new car" like warranty expired in July 2023. I also brought it to the dealer just before expiration to make sure things were good. Of course they were, it's a Lexus. Haha.

  25. Well this is a side of it I never saw/heard of, and I'm sure most people didn't. I bought a new minivan on July 4th, 2009. Usually, July 4th is a BIG car sell day/weekend....but for whatever reason, I pretty much had Folsom Dodge in Folsom, California all to myself. Arrived on the lot about 4 pm, and by 7:30 pm, I was driving home in my 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan SE that I paid UNDER $20k for. No trade in, so it wasn't a direct Cash for Clunkers deal...but that program definitely had an impact. Still have no idea why I was all alone at this dealer on a typical BIG selling day (July 4th, 2009 was a Saturday, btw). Anyways...great story Bob...well to listen to, not for your business.

  29.  @rickhmason  LOL the bank ended up going out of business...that's good. I've paid my last 2 car loans off early....course I looked at the contract before signing making sure it said "No pre-payment penalty" and no other line items stating forced interest to be paid (wow that's sneaky!).
