militaries don't really go through there anyway because it's so high. only small tactical troops in modern times really can do anything. obviously, the actual buffer area is the lower elevations, SEasia, Myanmar, Laos, etc.

almost all regular normal citizens can be friends. it's always government leaders that are the assholes, then drag the rest of their countries into conflicts for the leader's megalomaniacal aims.
