"maybe thoth's pill is started to wear off." what does this mean? Is it refering to some myth?
7
@ac8907 have you seen the hot vs crazy chart? the two dimensions are directly proportional LUL

Korean doesn't have a LOT of fricative sounds and symbols. you can always make a more generalized one that can be as accommodating and usable for as many languages. Musa language is one.
2
Or just don't.
2
It came from it.
2
@Nasty_Jello not if you design it easy.

as a programmer, unique ids for everything is preferable

Seems just like japanese.

The metaphor of thoth's pill is to vague. If you were to define "thoth's pill" what would it be? Writing? The benefits and drawbacks of writing? The cultural and mental consequences of writing? What does it mean for thoth's pill to wear off? Define your metaphors. You hardly mention it, then 20 minutes into the video you ask "or is thoth's pill wearing off?". No one remembers what that means. Plus you've added another meaning of wearing off, not just the pill per se.
1
@Alice-gr1kb why does thoth's pill mean seeing the development of writing? What does thoth's pill mean? Then, what does it wearing off mean? If it is a reference to some myth, it should explain what that myth is
1
WTF is "Thoth's pill" supposed to mean? what a weird, unexplained ending that tries to be poetic, and just ends up sounding pretentious.

8:05 was a cool effect, like the ghost winds of foreigners past
1
Everyone enforces it because everyone around them enforced it and shunned them. It's a social virus.

@J.o.s.h.u.a. spaghetti is also a Chinese word. Lol jk

Oh my god, screw learning japanese kanji

This is SO much easier, not harder, like you make it sound. You learn a prefix or suffix once, and it applies to every word. With English and various info European languages, you have to memorize SEVERAL different kinds which all mean the same thing for different words. Agor-ist. Bar-ista. Cannan-ite. As-ian, conga-lesian. Bak-er, republic-an democrat-(nothing). And so many more! Why can't there just he one suffix for every word that means "a person who is..."? And not only that, you have to know which what part of the root word needs to transform in a specific way for each word. You sound all stressed and exasperated, but I don't think it is warranted. You're not seeing the bigger picture. Stop focusing on how one word is long, and instead See how they're is actually do much less to memorizing for the language overall.

I think the explanation of balam being an example of semantic and phonetic writing being side by side isn't very clear.
1
2:22 you switched the ch and ts. it's not ch becomes ts, but rather ts becomes ch.
1
Seriously, why the hell does stroke order matter? Like are people writing characters and stopping midway, so you need the order to clue you into figuring out what they were trying to write (like lost packet reconstruction)?
1
story time with sources?? we can only be so impressed.
1
This way of writing is unnecessarily convoluted and a lot more difficult for everyone.
1
Wow, didn't know west africa was making lots of scripts
1
I thought latin didn't have the w sound. I thought they added w as an extension of v. And I also came from v. Hence "double u". Not weni wifi wiki, But veni vidi viki
1
changing the storytelling and the verb tenses from "here's what happened" to "here's what you should do" makes it all fancy-cutesy.
1
omg this is so braintickling.
1
@ekesandras1481 that's so eye-openning.

@ChiefMacuilmiquiztli man this threat is such a treasure trove of history
1
@ChiefMacuilmiquiztli "The french are the same celts from 2000 years ago and their brethren are the Scots, Irish, Welsh and Cornish." and the french hate the english - definitely brothers. lol

Chinese characters: Hey, so you know how we're so hard to learn? How about we make it even harder, but this time, for no reason at all?

What a great video. I love it when the evidence examples is laid transparently and can be followed, rather than just claimed
