it's a very imprecise statement. he explained the boundaries and meaning of his statement with his example where he said you can't blame the customer for not wanting a better thing, That is, what is the "correct" business move in the market is ultimately decided by the customers.

bullshit. seeing everything through the lens of class. see how you always have to conflate another dimension? you say it's about class, but notice how you said forgiveness among equals and then non-forgiveness across class lines. how do you know the key factor is not forgiveness rather than class?
