I don't want to prop up british news, nor the anchor here, but this is not usa-level down playing. It's ok for a host to take the opinion of an uninformed individual that the viewer might agree with, provided they provide an expert to put them straight and then not challenge that. If I was being optimistic about the media's morality, I'd say it may even be a cunning way to get the point across to those that might not be taking it seriously. And if that's the case, the anchor is potentially knowingly professing an idiot's point of view to make people listen. Of course, they might be idiots; but the fact that the expert was allowed to speak allows for the possibility of being a fall guy.
