Without that pressure we will become depressed, and develop maladaptive behaviour. You can see it happening already, but it will get much worse.

  7. 4 Normalisation. Exactly what I have described already. You can see it in so many places. Elon Musk, people think he is a hero because he has bought Twitter, but he has only done it so he can turn it into the social credit app; the guy wants to put microchips into people brains so he can turn them into drones. But people have suspended their objection because they are willing to trade the present tyranny of Twitter, for future tyranny, even if it is greater tyranny.

  9. Why are banks still investing (lending) to each other? Follow the logic, if A invests in B then A takes a share of B’s profit via interest. But B’s profit comes from lending to C. So why doesn’t A lend to C directly? Then A is able to decide if C is a good borrower and thus control their exposure to risk. If A lends to B then A has to trust B’s competency.

  13. Britain used to be mainly forest, even up to WWII. I met a veteran who told me after WWII people just started cutting down the forests. The reason is that we did not have enough arable land to produce food and we had to rely on food from the continents. 2 years into WWI and the German u-boats had sunk every vessel. We had no ammunition and no food. We had lost. The Americans turned everything around. But following that people must have decided we needed to be self sufficient. If we go back to being dependent on the continent, we are done for.

  30. I buy Tesco 84% dark chocolate and it has gone up 10%. Butter has gone up about 30% and olive oil is about 50%. Honey 60%. But they would not put the price of eggs up, so now the producers cannot break even so there are no eggs. They had no reservations with increasing the price of everything else, so why not eggs?
