  2. The criteria that says if a person is born in a nation, then they are of that nationality, is mainly useful to rulers like monarchs and governments. It really means anyone's offspring can be of any nationality, therefore nationality is really nothing because it demarcates nothing. It's not a criterion that the other inhabitants of a nation would choose. The criterion that a person must follow some arbitrary value system is equally unsatisfying. Lineage feels like the democratic criterion.

  3. Wasn't St. Patrick a Romano Britain who the Irish took as a slave? Can they really claim to be the oppressed people of that era? The British were the oppressed, by the Roman and Anglo-Saxon invaders. I don't hold a grudge against them like some Africans do over the transatlantic slave trade.
