  1. Godfrey is great. I think he should rethink the Anglo-Saxon thing though. Their time is a fraction of the history of Britain. Their time is a fraction of the history after their defeat.

  2.  @gxhall  The ruin? All of Britain's great achievements happened after 1066. I can't think of much that the Saxons did.

  3.  @carolarmer1204  The country became what it is after the Norman invasion. England did not extend itself while the Saxons ruled, they were too busy fighting themselves, that's why they were overrun by Vikings and then Normans.

  4.  @carolarmer1204  I think you are confusing Anglo-Saxon England with Britain before the Romans. Britain was already on the world map for its trade of tin, copper, and silver. They had the biggest copper mine in its day. That’s how the Romans knew about Britain, because it was a source of goods.
