I'm glad people like yourself are becoming aware of this.

Bit by bit, this car keeps getting better. Before long there will be a brief moment when everything is sorted. Then, all the parts will begin to degrade at their own rate and the merry-go-round will start all over again.

The 12C is a natural beauty. It has an elegant and flowing front that blends into a modern technological rear. Better IMO than the 650S, which has the front of a P1 welded onto the rear of the 12C. It looks like a cut and shut.
11
The tyre lettering looks great.
10
There's still time for a sharper, lighter Emira. The early Evoras were heavier and softer than the last ones.
7
I know the Ferrari 400i came first, but it looks like a Rover 3500 from the 80's.
5
There's no hiding the Lotus influence on the Toyota 2000GT. The chassis looks remarkably similar to a Lotus Elan or Esprit.
5
I'd take the whole thing apart. Refurbish what can be saved. Replace everything else and put it back together.

To be fair the fault with the immobiliser was Bosch.

The only problem with the looks of the S are the front. Too plain and characterless. The GTE was the second attempt and they nailed it. The 400 went to far with the creases. The back is far too busy, the wing is a disaster and the black thing under the front number plate looks like a rubber band. But they seem to have realised their mistakes and the 430 just about hits the sweet spot that they found with the GTE.

6:47 Looks like there's something else that needs attention on your influenzo. The engine cover/boot lid, whatever, doesn't fit. The right side is about an inch higher than the left. Every OCD sufferer watching this is getting fidgety.
2
The way the horizon line through the rear window rolls, and the bouncing of the camera, makes it look like a bit of a barge.
2
People lowering their cars, modding this and that. With their expert judgement, they should just work for Ferrari. Maybe then the cars would come out of the factory right in the first place.
2
I always thought these looked great. And the computer game was top class.
2
My Dad had a Mark 1 VW Scirocco. He said it was the only car he ever owned where the tyres lasted longer than the body panels. But nobody makes a big song and dance about shit Germans cars do they?
2
That car looks quite nice inside and out.

Overpriced, overrated, inferior quality

You need to improve the sound in this. I can see the mic is attached to your sweater or the seat belt but it sounds like it is under your woolly hat.
1
@EvoraGT430 Ah, they were taking liberties with the numbers.
1
What a bodge.
1
And because the battery is a significant portion of the price, a smaller battery equals a cheaper vehicle. Ironic that Lotus went completely against their credo, and produced a heavy SUV.
1
I always used to like the name Datsun, even though it sounds like a manufacturer of rust buckets. It's got a kind of working class charm to the name.

The reason why Porsche buck the trend is the same reason why people will buy a dog turd as long as it has a BMW badge on it. As for the future I am in the same camp as the guy who said it will become difficult to get fuel in future. People will move to electrification. Demand for fuel will drop, producers will pull out of the market. Fuel will become a niche product and will go up in price - very high. The all fossil fuel cars will become museum pieces. Sad but I think that is what will happen.
1
@Number27 There's a good 10 years left easily.
1
@david______9500 Diesel might last longer for agricultural use, HGVs and yachts. But the comparison with leaded fuel is stop on. I would give it about the same time frame. When most of the cars on the road are in the scrapyard and there are only electric cars left then there's no turning back. I suppose it really depends on how long before the electric infrastructure is adequate.
1
Amazing that Jaguar quoted 4.5K to replace the headlamps when all it took was polishing. Don't they think their cars might sell better if they charged the proper amount for repairs?
1
Chris Martin has done some good work, not only was he my boss for a time, but he also fronted a popular musical ensemble, now it turns out he is a wizz at cars as well. Is there no end to this man's talent?
1
A reasoned argument for the short to medium term. But those countries like China and India that you mention have plenty of people in them to soak up the increased numbers of future classics. They are the growth areas of the world so all they have to do is acquire a taste for classics and the market will go up again. The other thing on the horizon is electric vehicles. One day ICE will no longer be produced so the supply reaches zero. The question is how long demand will last for cars that one day people will not be able drive.
1
Masonry I think but in any case they nailed the front and everything else was right from the beginning. Now I know you have a 400 so my comment might not go down too well but I still think the creases were a poor aesthetic. It is typical for later generations to become more angular. It just looks like lazy design to me born from a lack of confidence in the original design.

Last time I wanted to make a claim on insurance, I worked out that even if the insurance had paid out, after I subtracted the excess, the payment would only be equal to what I paid to them in premiums. I was asking for my owned premiums back. But they would not pay out. I may as well have put the premiums in the bank, it's less likely, but not a certainty, that the bank would have refused a withdrawal. Anyway, I cancelled the insurance.
1
The i3 devalues by 30% a year. They are overpriced and have no range.
1
If the car is a Bismerc, maybe the shade of grey is battleship grey.
1
Insurance is legalised theft.
1
That's the out of place Top Gear reference.
1
I know someone who just got quoted £1300 pa to insure a Jaguar XKR that he had for 9 years with no claims. Instead of reinsurring, he sold it.
1
@Number27 Yeah, I knew I was being sarcy. The thing is, my bro is all into this kind of thing. He put pneumatic suspension in a VW camper van. When I went for a ride in it, we parked up, and he lowered the suspension. I opened to the door to get out, it was so low the door scrapped on the kerb and I got an ear bashing. It just narks me a bit when people say it looks right when they lower the suspension. It's not right if the tyre fouls the wheel arch.

I thought those PJ's were golf trousers. Corona virus is really taking it's toll when grown men are wearing their PJ's in pubic in broad daylight.
1
Bad luck on the trolley jack and the speeding fine. You didn't get the fine in the 308 did you? That really would be a kick in the pants now that you have fixed the speedo. Looks better without the lights. Not sure about the stickers. The look good on many Ferrari's not sure about this one.
1
@srinitaaigaura I like almost all the others. The 570S and 720S looked great, with their own character, the Artura is good as well. But I don’t like the Speedtail, way too long, and the design is a derivative of the 570S. You can’t make the top-line product a derivative of the base product.
1
You told us there is a hint about a new car, then you showed us how good the cam covers look after you sprayed them. While you were spraying them there was a prominent Lotus logo. So my guess is another Lotus, maybe an Esprit.
1
It might be a bit more special if it wasn't James Bond metallic with a black interior, like every other AM in Britain.
1
You could swap the valve seals from the front and rear heads, then you would expect the other head to have the oil leak. Not really necessary because it sounds like you have figured it out. But what if the valves that are slightly undersized on the faulty head, not the seals that are oversized?
1
It's not what I would call a looker.
1
I expect cars will all have facial recognition cameras in the as well.
1
The equivalent of fuel duty would be an additional tax on electricity to charge the electric car. But that of course taxes everyone regardless of whether they have an electric car. They could put a tax on charging from public charging stations but that will leave out those who charge from home.
1
@Number27 Even worse if they do slap tax on electricity. I can't imagine they could get away with it but then again if someone said a year ago they will have everyone locked up in their houses with nappies on their faces I would think that was unbelievable but here we are.
1
I wonder if it's possible to get an RX-8 rotary into one.
