My dad didn't believe in that. He resented that his offspring might do better.

They are discussing the comments section of twitter (and you may as well extend that to this very comments section here). The comments section of the internet is not the place to go when looking for fact. The is no doubt that fact is very important and we wish to have a good source of facts. But a place for discussion is also imperative because this is how we begin to discern truth from falsehood. The comments section is the place of discussion. You should not have to prefix everything you say with IMO, it should be an unwritten rule that everything in a comments section is opinion.

Elon Musk did not invent the electric car. They were invented before the internal combustion engine but battery technology was not advanced enough. If people had put more effort into researching batteries back then, then perhaps we would not have people screaming about the how bad the environment has become now. But instead people took the easy option of burning readily available oil.

Don't you want to hear the sound as well?

I posted a comment after watching this, that I later removed because I thought it was just a crude thought. But it’s on my mind again. So here goes: Richard talks about apes taking out the bullies in their society and then observes that humans appear to be like domesticated animals. I take this as meaning we are somewhat pacified by a process of selecting out aggressive personalities. My initial thought was that we are presently experiencing a resurgence of the aggressive bully. WHO, WEF, lockdowns, digital ids, etc. So should we do as the ape does and take out these bullies? That’s a provocative question and it lead me to this: The aggressive personality might have been beneficial before humans became the dominant species. But now that the are no other species that threaten our survival, the aggressive personality is the threat. If it is a genetic trait, then it might be beneficial to remove that gene. But who would do that? Surely it requires a degree of psychopathy to do such a thing. This is a paradox because the species would be attempting to modify itself, but to do so, it must employ the very personality type it is trying to remove. The task never completes. It’s an example of humanity reaching a limit for self-actuated change and the reason why some changes can only come from an external source.

Gödel's incompleteness theorem, as I understand, shows that there are always truths that cannot be derived from an axiomatic system, despite being true. Because they are true but cannot be derived (proven) they must be accepted as axioms in a larger axiomatic system. That larger system will have further truths that cannot be proven, and the reason is because of the halting problem.

I went to Tommy's rally in Trafalga Square, London, days before the stabbing. In no way did he instigate the riots, how could he when it was before the stabbings? There was a church minister at the rally, we said The Lords Prayer, and I can away feeling profoundly peaceful and optimistic.

That is a good idea.

The WEF has published in one of their documents that they do not want anyone to use any more energy than the average Indian, or Ethiopian.

I'd like to know the evidence behind the claim that Hilter was trying to kill the Germans in WWII. I am currently researching a claim that Hilter killed the Jews because they were trying to starve the Germans to death following the German defeat in WWI.

I heard Searchlight was run by intelligence services.

Bitcoin is finite. When something is finite, it is possible for one person to gain all of it. Clearly that is impossible if something is infinite, because there is no all. Mining is the process of validating the integrity of new blocks on the chain, and the reward is new bitcoin. But once the limit of 21M is reached, the mining reward becomes the aggregate transaction fee of all transactions in the block, I.e. it is taken from the existing bitcoin. If a miner were to always keep the reward, they would eventually gain all the bitcoin. To mine requires electrical energy. I think it is essential to denominate energy price in bitcoin, because only then can you force the miner to give up some of their bitcoin, and ensure a circular economy.

31:00 I have heard people from the US saying they can detect the 50Hz refresh rate of TV sets in the UK many times. I live in the UK and have never been able to detect the refresh rate. I also worked in TV broadcasting so have more than average experience of this. It implies that a persons vision can adapt or ignore this.

I get myself into discomfort when I go out and do long cycle rides with hill climbs. I have gone through a lot of suffering that way but cold showers I really hate. Maybe there is something to be gained here :)

38:24 - People with prefrontal brain damage - I worked with a guy who got attacked one night and suffered a fractured skull. He would say and do all sorts of odd things like one day we had a fire alarm drill. Rather than meeting in the designated place outside the office he went and sat in his car to simulate a missing person, thereby making the drill more realistic. After a while of knowing him I came to think he was a person without boundaries to his personality.

And where is Jordan Peterson now. Disappeared to Russia shortly before CoVid. Just saying.

15:19 I'd like to see evidence or reasoning that children are born with a belief that there is a god or a higher power. Belief is acceptance that something is true without evidence - an axiom. I theorise that the first axiom all people gain when they enter this world, is that one must breathe. If a person does not accept that as truth then, regardless of evidence or proof, then they will continue no further.

The German staff at the university I have been studying at proclaimed they did not know the difference between a lie and an untruth. And these guys are trying to encode law into logic statements. Surely they don't think that when a student answers an exam question incorrectly, that the student is lying? The difference is one of intent.
