George Orwell may have written 1984 as a warning but what it did was lay the path to that future. The mechanics of the book can be brought into being because anyone who objects can be dismissed as believing in a fantasy that will never happen or called a conspiracy theorist. Orwell cleared the way.

This obsession with dystopian futures is a sickness. What a waste of lifetime to write about what you don't want to happen instead of spending equal time and effort on a detailed writing about the future we would like to come about.

@chasleask8533 While I hope you are right I don't believe in relying on hope and presently there doesn't appear to be anything that will stop it. But I do think we should keep trying and never give up.

@Sheerluck Holmes You don't really understand. The people presenting these tales are not prophets. They are presenting you with a possible future and your consumption of that tale is taken as your acceptance of that future.
