That's exactly what I thought and I was going to make that my comment when there were no views of this version but I shied away. I was unsubscribed as well. Free speech requires dedication.

@ColonelRoge I hope it was the YT algorithm. You can't champion free speech and then take down peoples comments. It wasn't even controversial. The Anglo-Saxon on might have been though.

@ColonelRoge When I read William Blake's poem at school that has the 'dark satanic mills' line, the left-wing middle class types looked down on the working class and to them the poem confirmed their sentiment, it was food for them. I know that was not the intent of the poem but I was wondering whether it may have helped demonise the working class through association. I also know it is part of our heritage and literature and I am not trying to undermine the piece but if I'm right then the subject is worth discussing if only to exorcise the myth.

@daevaskye I'm sure that is the intention but and the conditions might not have been good but I bet you would find many people there who were happy to have a job. For instance mining is hard work in dangerous conditions but the irony is that miners do take pride in their work. It's macho to do a tough job. So to those with a dislike of the working class they can easily associate the people with the place and the work. When the industry stopped and the people in the industrial towns had no jobs there was little sympathy for them.
