It seems to me that a lot of the rise in anti-slavery is the guilt of those who are descened from slave owners/traders, and those who did not take part in or opposed the abolition. They missed the boat and combined with their fear of migrants, they try to recreate the same fight that was going on 200 years ago, so that they can be the rightous.
