  1. What I would like to know is why a lot of our great academics go off to American universities? In my subject there are almost no lecturers indigenous to the UK. Given that we have been sending as many people to university as possible for the last 20 years I would expect more. Instead almost all the lecturers are from overseas.

  3.  @richardgribbin9641  The irony is that a lot (but not all) of the material they teach is the work of British computer scientists, mathematicians and philosophers. But I am being taught it by Germans.
