The question I have to ask, is why is the public being delivered into next.gen cars again, and not the fantastic diminishment of car dependency, SkyTran? The solution for revolution is already developed, SkyTran. SkyTran: No commuter crush, stop signs and red lights, driver licenses, vehicle insurance, vehicle crashes, paving, oil changes, gas/gas stops, tires, salting, sanding, paving, driver dependency, weather outages, road kill, parking lots, parking fees, public movement constrained to transport schedules, airplane and truck product distribution, etc. It's senseless to move 2 tons of vehicle to transport a 150 pound human. Clean air, mobility independence, diverting the expense of cars/trains/buses to better purposes.

The over $2K charger at home, the hours to recharge, the battery that won't hold a charge/recharge in the coldest weather, the spontaneous $5K bill for dead battery at 150K miles, all deal breakers for me.

Same for apartment dwellers. 3) 150K miles battery lifespan, so says industry. Last I checked, average American puts on 20K miles a year. That's a 5 year lifespan.

@mauriceharting5877 Yes, it is absurd to me. Here were I live, up north, that equipment is put in the cellar. I've never heard of anyone insulating their garage, let alone heat it.

We've regressed to "taxation without representation", as oligarchy has corrupted our government, with bribes called "campaign donations", aka money laundering, legislation for cash. If the objective was to eliminate personal transportation, we'd have one kick butt public transport:SkyTran. We don't. Electric vehicles is just a life-support extension of the antique car/bus/train industries: auto sales, oil, gas, paving, insurance, licensing, plowing, sanding, tires, inspection, etc. etc. etc. Bilk, bilk, bilk the public, w/more stop signs, red lights, vehicle gadgets, fee'd parking garages, toll roads, roadside retailer gauntlets, etc.

There is only one way to become exceedingly wealthy: taking too much from too many in exchange for too little. There are no wealthy without those creating the value, with their labor. US has always imported a labor glut to flood the labor market for sake of suppressing wages. When there weren't enough indentured sent by England, US resorted to slaves. Government aid is a right, we pay for it. Spending it wisely isn't gifting it to Musk, etc. "Poor people [...] could always find a better paying job " No, they can't. Not while importing a glut of illegally present and visa'd.
