 @geelee1977 it didn't belong to him anymore after he abandoned it at a repair shop. There was nothing illegal about it. If it was illegal they would be getting arrested not sued.

 @geelee1977 you're wrong. He did sign a waiver saying that the device and the data on it would become property of the shop if he abandoned it. The law doesn't say they can't do that.
