Look man, nobody is saying Russia is an economic paradise. But you have look at the big picture. Huge geopolitical changes are undergoing. The world is not gonna be what it was till recently, if it survives.
1
Russia again. This guy is obsessed.
1
It sounds like you are trying to prevent people to emigrate to Russia. It's becoming a trend.
1
@EconLessons I had no idea Mark. I'm just a day laborer, trying to make a living.
1
You want to make the world a better place? Oops.
1
There are a lot of money that can't leave Russia, because of sanctions. So there is not much choice, but to invest inside Russia. That's where part of the growth comes from.
1
Pollack's Russian inferiority complex, is the size of Russia's GDP.
1
@_alienblood Russia has universal Healthcare and free college education. Paid maternity leave
1
@_alienblood You haven't seen poor areas in America. It's third world.
1
Yes they can't compare with China or the West, but few things they make. And now with BRICS expanding, they will have some market too.
1
My suspicion is that Eastern Ukraine will also become China friendly after the war. Only China has the potential to restore that region after the devastation from the war.
1
This guy is amazing . He can distort historical facts, even little kids know better.
1
Nobody says Russian economy is superior. They will survive.
1
Lets see what is going to happen to France, for example after losing it's African colonies in the Sahel.
1
@EconLessons In their own words-- fighting for a multi polar world. Is this a future or not?
1
@EconLessons Listen man. You should know that to understand Russia it takes more than economics.
1
@EconLessons If they are so insignificant, what can they possibly do to the future of the world? Spoil the Green Agenda?
1
China has a 400 million middle class. If Russia was Germany of the 30s, the war in Ukraine would have been over long ago. China is not aiming to destroy America. But they don't want to be contained either.
1
The fact that you are still talking communism, shows how much of academic you are.
1
@EconLessons It's not a fantasy. As a citizen of the West I have no interest in this happening. I wonder what makes so many countries wanting to leave the Garden of the West and join the Jungle of the East. Certainly they are not forced since the BRICS countries are not in the position to do that. Then it's voluntary. Curious to hear your explanation.
1
I doubt this story with the Belarusian girl is true Mark. I'll tell you why. No one knew who Putin is back then. Not even CIA. He actually played nice guy for a while and got along with the West. Even offered to join NATO. But it turned out to be just a game and the West won't forgive him for that.
1
I agree. The problem is that the current historical forces are from the East , followed by the Global South. The West is trying to contain the rise of these forces. Definitely the historical forces in this case are Russia and China and the Global South to a lesser extent. You get it wrong. The West and it's allies are not the historical forces here. The historical forces are those who try to overrthrow the existing world order, not the forces who try to preserve it. Capishi?
1
Russia will develop. Has no othe choice.
1
The whole world knows about the Global Roman Empire, except this fool.
1
Don't worry man. Russia will never be like the West. That's not their purpose.
1
Yeah, your parents had too much influence on your thinking. Communism is long gone in that part of the world.
1
@OliverNorth9729 It's just more realistic approach to what's going on in today's world. While listening to this guy you might think you're still in the 90s.
1
So a visit to a Chinatown, that left you spooked is the base of your China studies.I recall Obama got a similar experience visiting China too.
1
@EconLessons Ok. Richard Wolf and Michael Hudson have pretty educational videos on YouTube. Why I have to listen to you?
1
These two countries Russia and China are on course to change the Western dominated world order from the last 400 years. There will be many wars in the future till the newer world order settles in or one big war.
1
Refineries do not produce oil. They produce petroleum products. So damaging refining capacity does not lower oil production for Russia. How exactly are you going to shut down the Russian gas station? That will result in WW3.
1
Man you are naive.
1
@thejollygreendragon8394 Actually Russia is not even in the top ten countries on alcoholism. Some Scandinavian countries are ahead, as far as I know.
1
Well our sanctions will force them to go back and start producing, like in the Soviet times. I guess the sanctions are bearing fruit. Just not for us, but for them.
1
Yeah, you and Zeihan should team up.
1
Thie 3.6 % GDP growth was reported by the IMF and the World Bank. As for the Russians, their expectations were much lower. They are realistic about it.
1
@EconLessons Take it to the IMF.
1
Lol. That speaks of your level.
1
It's interesting how we westeners are much closer to understand China than Russia. Isn't this puzzling?
