  2. I'm European and live in the USA where the houses are built similarly. At the beginning I had my reservations about this type of construction ( in Europe its all brick and mortar) but with time I got convinced that these frame houses are pretty sturdy. Last week we had 80mph wind and everything was ok. Keep in mind that if there is a strong tornado a brick house will not survive either. In case of an earthquake I think a frame house has a better chance than a brick house with concrete floors , because the frame house is more flexible The onlyt hing I would do differently is to make the walls 10 inches tick for better R factor.
