They could be worth it if the wealthy commit to investing significantly in the country about infrastructure and well paying jobs etc, and if they don't they could pay higher taxes, for example. the wealthy also don't need pensions, and social security should tax all money income not just up to 160k of income. furthermore, companies using robotics and a.i. could be taxed more to offset for jobs lost.

Instead try the Scandinavian way where they have low taxes for the wealthy in exchange for good paying jobs and good benefits and investments!
