All advanced countries economies transitioned in the past decades from most of manufacturing to mostly services based, even China is transitioning, Japan tried to keep the old model in the 1980s and 1990s only to lead its economy to stagflation and bcoz of all the tariffs protectionism Japan's companies stopped being innovative.

It's not a problem if the countries and politicians are proactive instead of just reactive, things change and advance, either adapt or stay behind in development! All advanced countries switched most of economy from manufacturing to services etc. All communist countries had a lot of manufacturing and some produced almost everything within their countries, were they capitalist according to your nonsense thinking?! Most of manufacturing is never going to return back to the high wages countries.

  11. ​​ @Curious564  Maybe you forgot that other countries have advanced technologies and automations and a.i. etc too! Tariffs won't cover chicken sh,t, the wage labor and energy price differences are usually very significant, unless the tariffs go up to 200% or 400%. If for example a nice car made in China costs 15,000 dollars, even with 100% tariffs it would still be cheaper than one made in U.S.A. or Canada.
