I found the Oxfam survey of 125 countries, the rankings are not as you describe, on food quality the US ranks 5th (from the top, not the bottom) after Iceland, Switzerland, Netherlands and Australia. It's only in terms of health related (diabetes and obesity) that the US ranks 5th from the bottom, but by that measure the top countries you mention are mid-table, with the top of the table occupied by Cambodia, Burundi and Ethiopia. https://www.oxfam.org.uk/what-we-do/good-enough-to-eat/food-index-mobile-dropdown
