@Bashnja1 Russia was supplying the Donbas separatists with artillery which was used to kill Ukrainians. Fortunately the conflict was at very low levels through 2019, 2020 and 2021. Unfortunately the Russian invasion has increased the number of civilians killed by the conflict a thousand fold over those more recent years.

@Glen Bolderson they will very much have the support of US AWACS, how do you think Ukraine knows when Russian aircraft take off on missions to launch missiles over the Caspian sea.

@zanza8197 there was a referendum in Ukraine on independence in 1991, a majority in all oblasts voted in favor of independence. The Crimea "referendum" has been ruled as illegal and corrupt by the United Nations.

@zanza8197 how many civilians were killed in the Donbas on both sides in 2014, how many were killed in 2019, 2020, 2021 and about how many were killed since the February 2022 Russian invasion?

Obviously fools to invade Ukraine.

@КонстантинСаченко-о3й the Minsk agreements failed because fighting continued after the ceasefire dates, the fighting was mutual and due to the exact position of the line of control not being included in the agreements. The separatist believing that some areas occupied by Ukrainian troops were rightfully theirs. Russian propaganda claims it was all Ukraine and the Wests fault the agreements didn't successfully lead to an immediate ceasefire, but the fault was arguably due to faults in the agreements from them being put together under time pressure. But after Minsk 2 there was a steady decline in the level of conflict with the civilian death toll in 2015 (900) being less than half of what it was in 2014, (2000) after 2015 the number of civilian deaths declined more rapidly, in recent years active military operations taking less than 10 civilian lives a year on both sides. There were major cities within easy artillery range on both sides of the line of control, inhabitants of those cities were not living in daily fear of being bombed or shelled. Claims to the contrary were Russian propaganda to justify their invasion.
