@Peter Bloemer it's not about Ukraine or even really about Russia, people in some segments of Indian society have a deep anti-west chip on their shoulder. They'll cheer for any country that the west is opposing. The Russian invasion of Ukraine was an evil action by a man corrupted through being in power for 20 years, but for those with a deep hatred of the west in general and the US in particular that doesn't matter. These people feel that the West has humiliated them and they'll rationalize whatever they need to rationalize to justifying supporting any country the West is opposed to.

@Z Western colonialism ended last century, for India in 1947, for most of Africa in the 1960's. Which parts of the world are now under the rule of the colonial powers rather than the people who live there? For the Western democracies the only overseas territories are overseas departments of France and territories like American Samoa that choose not to be independent countries. A colonial power is reasonably defined as a country that subjugates the population of another country, today that would be Russia which is attempting to take away Ukraine sovereignty through military action.
