Your claim is a lie, there was very little conflict in the Donbas for the 4 years prior to Feb 2022, with less than 10 civilians killed each year on both sides from active military operations.

@Donal Clarke 14,000 total includes military and paramilitary on both sides, of those 3,500 were civilians. By year and excluding deaths from mines and explosive remnants of war (which in recent years have mostly been due to munitions planted and expended in the earlier years of conflict) civilian deaths: 2014: 2040 2015: 800 2016: 60 2017: 50 2018: 20 2019: 10 2020: 9 2021: 13 Figures are rounded and include civilian deaths on both sides.

@Horst Brey I try to use independent sources that don't show a bias with silly insults and ridiculous claims. But since you question what sources I use, perhaps you can tell me your preferred sources.

@Horst Brey so no sources on the conflict in Ukraine, all you offer is evidence that you're a fan of Marxism and are anti Western establishment, that nothing you offer can be considered as based on sound evidence rather than an extremist ideology. Your position is 'nato bad, Russia good' and as Ukraine is opposed to Russia (as a result Russian aggression) and is supported by nato, you've chosen your side not based on the evidence concerning the conflict, but your strong ideological biases.

If Putin was focused on a military victory rather than just acting like a terrorist these weapons would be fired at military assets including logistics rather than major cities. Putin is making the same mistake that Goering and Hitler made - trying to terrorize the people instead of destroying Britain's/Ukraine's ability to fight.
