  1. @Dymphna El Santo < Jefferson was writing about ALL PEOPLE. But his wasn't the only voice in the play. He treated his slaves like family, tried to marry one. Government of the day wouldn't allow it. Left his estate to them - which the courts did not allow in the end. Oh, about the Founding Fathers owning slaves? Congress did not allow them to be free. Someone HAD to own them, care for them, or they would have been killed.
