  7.  @mikeperry1620  I'm 64, was self employed, not working now because we're re-fitting a 1910 house we love. Insulation and interior walls done except one studio room, siding and painting 2/3 done, roof done, porch and balcony 3/4 done, two new windows to install yet, and no loans, all paid for. Should finish next summer, then I make a heated house for the abandoned cats we care for, cold in Iowa! For now we bring them in for winter.

  8.  @mikeperry1620  Best wishes to you, there will always be a demand for your skills. I don't know what I shall do when the house is finished, I had intended to build a third career, but the "new world order" is determined to tax and regulate family shops either to Chynah or to shut down. I may truly retire, I have model kits to build, a woodshop to play in.... but I'd rather make another business. I WAS going to make lesson films in my old age on my first career, designing and casting jewelry. The world is so crazy now, I'm afraid someone will mis-use a torch, then blame and sue me!

Having been both a contract labor worker bee (paid for accomplishment, not for time spent) and a shop owner, I've little patience for the often lethargic weed tokers who can be found out back talking rather than working, "Put it to the maaan!" I get why companies are buying robots. They show up on Mondays and are never hung-over which is quite dangerous on some jobs, costly mistakes on others. My faves: (1) Guy's in the can for 20 minutes, talks to a friend for another 10, and then wants 15 for a snack / smoke break. (2) The zero experience 17 year old who needs time off for everything, answers 3 cellphone calls during the interview, but thinks he's worth $55 an hour, and expects $85 by the end of the year.
