  18. I think suppressor is the most technically correct term because it did not technically "silent" a gun. But, there are some guns with suppressor that are so silent that the loudest thing produced by the gun is the recoil action

  34. Your concept would make the MG42 became a squad automatic weapon like Bren, and BAR. You know the German doctrine, the machine gunner is the main strength of a squad and rifleman became the supporter. The purpose of the 42 is to attack, not support the riflemen.

  35. Richardsen German squad doctrine focuses the attack on the machine gunner. The riflemen were just the support gunner. So, the MG42's purpose is very different from Bren or BAR.
