  1. The British Army planned to jump straight from bolt action rifles to assault rifles. They weren't interested in semiautomatic battle rifles. Unfortunately that's what they ended up with: Because of NATO politics.

  2. I'm sure that most Wehrmacht soldiers would have prefered the original ZK 420 to a G41 or Kar 98k.

  3. The Garand had been in development since the 1920s. And was formally adopted in 1936. It wasn't a big secret.

  4. Another drawback of the ZK 420S is that it was a battle rifle firing designed for full power cartridges. Post War, with one notable exception, armies countries were interested in intermediate cartridges and assault rifles.
