JNN321 M You win. Go back to Call of Duty.
7
The US has only fought undeveloped weapons since WWII.
6
daniiel mlinarics The US has been focused on counterinsurgency in failed states, so hypersonic missiles are not needed. Fyi, the DOD just reported another test failure (more money for the contractor).
5
daniiel mlinarics $1million min, and Russian passport as, Jackov Smirnoff.
3
JNN321 M The US spends more than Russia and China combined total defense budgets. Spending on Ukraine is close to the entire Russian defense budget. There are no spending cuts for failed tests, just increased spending...
3
JNN321 M Possibly. But they now have operational hypersonic weapons on a fraction of US R&D spending.
2
@Jykobe491 Lasers work, under ideal condtions, no rain, fog, clouds. Also requires tracking of targets (hypersonic missiles develop stealth plasma shields). A target can spin to disperse laser heating, or use reflective coatings.
2
@brianb7388 All weapons become obsolete. Spears, knights, battleships, etc. Carriers must stay out of range of hypersonic missiles, but can still be attacked by diesel subs with 200kt supercavitating torpedoes, or tactical nukes.
2
Russia has used hypersonic missiles in combat on targets in Ukraine. The US programs are failures (profitable for contractors).
2
The MIC is invested in legacy weapons, like battleships, and aircraft carriers.

@paulbarclay4114 After spending $trillions in Iraq and Afghanistan, and $billions on Ukraine, the US is forced to cut research on new weapons.
1
daniiel mlinarics Only in your video games dude.
1
daniiel mlinarics I was an aerospace engineer, and developed the only nuclear war sim BravoRomeoDelta. I'm not a fan boy gamer.
1
JNN321 M With an unlimited budget (too big to fail), and no accountability, US contractors have no incentive to deliver a successful hypersonic weapon.
1
JNN321 M OK, still waiting for operational weapon... Btw, I'm a former aerospace designer.

@alexanderandre-colton8276 30kt carriers won't move fast enough to make a difference. A tactical nuke doesn't require a direct hit.
1
@Jykobe491 They are proving effective and unstoppable in Ukraine today. The main limitations are related to materials, engines, and guidance systems. Another option, is a railgun launched, hypersonic projectile.
1
@alexanderandre-colton8276 US is deploying B52 bombers to the UK to support NATO. Putin can respond by deploying Tu160 bombers to Venezuela; or Yasen class subs with hypersonic missiles off the coasts of the US.
1
@ImBigFloppa Why would Putin want to invade? The European economies face inflation, deficits, and collapse due lack of access to cheap commodities. BoJo and Mario have resigned. Scholtz and McMacron are next. NATO ammo stocks are depleted, and the US defense industry will take years to restock.
1
@ImBigFloppa Sounds like Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Vietnam. Most Americans can't find any of these $Billion ratholes on a map. More empiral decline for the US.
1
@Sajuuk Not needed in Afghanistan or Iraq, but will be decisive in Taiwan conflict. Carriers will be sitting ducks.
1
JNN321 M China Df41 glide vehicle is operational. What is the US analog?
1
@brianb7388 US has useless carriers.
1
@brianb7388 Only relevant in low intensity conflicts, bombing 3rd world countries. The 1,000+ km range of hypersonic missiles will keep carriers out of range of the F35 in a war with China.
