Nobody is calling it 'Xizang' so you can stop with that. Yes, he is correct as recorded and reported by Western journalists and travelers at the time. Tibet was a brutal 'Theocracy' not unlike Myanmar has always been and is today. They were impovershed just as Mao's China was living in brutal poverty esp in the far out rural areas. After the PRC occupied Tibet they were just as impoverished and had to wait until the 1990s before experiencing any kind of modern living just as it was for most Chinese. so, he's not wrong.

@RoseRose-gk6ku Incorrect, the name is Tibet and that is the English. You will use 'Tibet' and everyone in China including CGTN should use the correct word 'Tibet'. Understood?
2
@RoseRose-gk6ku The name in English is 'Tibet' and that's what will be used in English. you should use 'Tibet' when writing in english.

Many people know that and the reason YOU know it (like many many others) is because Western Journalists and travelers documented that prior to 1959 and the century prior to it. Often British and Germans but others made a point of documenting their time in Tibet and later that was compiled and academia took on more research. That's how and why YOU know anything about it and its actually the only reason China's new PRC knew about their lives prior to 1959 and why CGTN is able to pass on this Western Knowledge via this Western Media platform. as for life after 1959, Tibetans lived in poverty, malnutrition, rural hardship until the 1990s like the people in Mainland China did.

@cathearts09 I don't know wha a 'Xizang' is because we speak English here but the Peoples Republic of China needed the accounts of German and British experts in order to understand and learn what Tibet was like before they were allowed to occupy Tibet. but good luck to some imaginary province of 'Xizang' lol

@tthscrolls7772 locals here in China call it Tibet or rather 'Tibei' which will sound alike to 'Tibet' (more like 'Tea Bay' Now what?
1
@wwbren The name is Tibet and you will use 'Tibet' when you speak my language and write here on my Western Media.

@nanyanguo1 That's a bunch of commie gobbeldy-gook and crybully nonsense about the utterly disgusting self-destruction Chinese imposed on themselves, however, In English, in the Anglosphere it will be Tibet, in Chinese I will call it Tibet (pronounced a little like 'Tee Bet' and you can call it it Tibet. We're not doing these commie word games here in the outside world. Chinese can manipulate that cheap stuff on you and their own Chinese but its really repulsive they think they will now do this here. btw, this kind of cheap stuff is why 'The West' is going to decide to make Tibet independent or give it over to India. Remember how you were one of the crybullies who made that happen okay?

@bumbengtey8464 the powers in Peking think its clever and get off on it.
1
@PChan-yt4uf There aren't 1.4 billion Chinese and they call it Tibet. except party members who just recently got the word to start saying this fake name. most of them forget and say Tibet. you have a lot to learn about China and how things work in China heheh
1
@tthscrolls7772 Wait.. what official documents? You understand this is the English speaking world in The West, the Anglosphere. No, never saw or heard anyone outside of the Chinese government and its media and party members writing it anything but Tibet. Now what?
1
@tthscrolls7772 English comprehension problems are strong with you. You need to stop talking now. you're an 86IQ and this will get annoying fast.
1
@tthscrolls7772 hi, you were warned about using your half-wits to be annoying. you don't 'get it' and then youre just half smart enough to smirk and think you're really doing something. Dont take this personal but I might have to block you if you keep this up, ok?
1
@araara4746 Why, I didn't lose the name 'Tibet' and won't need to call Tibet 'xizang' like a ridiculous party member. I wont be calling the Zodiac dragon a 'Loong' either. I don't have to embarrass myself with those childish things like you do. Anyway, as Chairman Xi, recently speking in Pekinghas asked everyone in China and Tibet: prepare to eat bitter melon as these hard years get harder.
1
@araara4746 It doesn't work that way. now go eat your bitter melon.
1
@araara4746 u mad, sis?
1
@lagrangewei 16 months ago the government of China called it Tibet. the only people in China who say 'xizang' are party members and 1st graders. Nobody here in the outside world is going to start calling it anything but TIbet. know that. You aren't being asked. you're being told. mark this and come back and tell me I was right 1, 4 and 20 years from now.

You call it Tibet here on our Western Anglosphere Media. Call it Tibet.

@thungwalaen548 hey foreigner, you can go along with the phony thing and say that in Mandarin but here in the Anglosphere, here in the outside world its going to be Tibet. You can use some phony word if you want to suck badly at communicating and using goofy foreign words but that just means you suck and are a bad communicator, foreigner.
