As a recent medical school graduate - it's because pregnant women are already at higher risk of blood clots due to the increased levels of oestrogen circulating during pregnancy. Any risk would be related to clotting risk not due to risk to the foetus. As for whether pregnant women should be jabbed, pregnant women in Israel and elsewhere ARE RECOMMENDED to be jabbed, but with a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine which doesn't have the clotting issue identified with the AstraZeneca vaccine.
