  1. I wasn't that shocked. Takes more than that to get me entertained. As a multiple dog owner for 37 years... I would agree that it's the right of the postie to defend himself. The kick was from the side of the foot not the toes so the kick was more to get the dog away from him rather than to injure. The dog is clearly uninjured. As for the owner, that dog should have been kept away. When we have delivery men here at the house, I lock the dogs away, close a door and make sure they are nowhere near the outside because I don't want them attacking OR RUNNING OFF. That's called RESPONSIBILITY. We've always had large breeds, currently we've got two Bouvier des Flandres and at one point had 5 of them and a litter of ten puppies but otherwise the dogs have been large breeds. Not once has any of our dogs been near a delivery person, because of this very reason, they are trained to protect and defend INSIDE THE HOUSE, not against a postman standing outside. I agree with the RM statement... postmen and women the right to defend themselves especially against smaller breeds which are usually quite vicious.
