  2. US-China trade was a privileged relationship until about 2018. Trump changed that. The US produces less, and China more, particularly in advanced manufactures, in the intervening 9 years. China has been steadily reducing its purchases of US exports (ag, chips, energy) over this period and this will continue. Trump and his advisors (Navarro, Lighthizer et al) can try to expand the policies of his first term but it’s likely that they will continue to produce the same results.
