  1. Munchau is hardly a deep thinking interlocutor of European issues as he can’t really discuss anything without slinging political labels. He may be one of the best known English language writers on Germany — but that’s only a reflection of how indifferent the anglo-saxons are to Germany. In any event, in his many years of writing editorials for the FT, I didn’t read anything that was in anyway prescient or predictive of the situation that Germany is in today.
