@douginorlando6260 I wouldn’t fall into the trap of being terrified by a “recession”. A recession is defined by the government — and they have already played fast and loose with the definition to suit their goals. A “recession” is “over there”. What matters for the ordinary person is prices. Watch what happens to prices in relation to income. The clearest sign of what the government plans is to look at what’s done to retirees (on fixed incomes). CPI-U increased 3.4% in 2023. Social Security payments increased 2.3%. For next year, if the government says there will be no increase in SSI (+0.0%) what can the common do? In a western “democracy”, the public has no recourse because there is no choice in candidates as they are controlled by financial interests.
