  1. The wishes of the people in a democracy are irrelevant. Only the financial and political elites have the right to decide who lives and who dies. Just as in the months preceding World War I when the whole of Europe was swept away by the fever of war — from which 9 million casualties of boys and men resulted — the time it will be different. The number should be higher now because so few people in the West really know the difference between life and death. What they shouted in the House of Lords then — “from this blood will grow a new generation of warriors….the weak (pacifists) need culling” — is already being written into speeches by US politicians of both parties.
