  1. I don’t believe this confrontation could have been avoided, anymore that than World War I could have been averted. The western élites (and their satrapies like Japan) simply want this war, just as they wanted the two world wars. They will benefit in every way as they neither fight this war in the trenches, nor expose themselves to any financial risk. They have more interest in their corgis than in the lower classes.
