  1. India wants to believe that the 5 nations of BRICS are equal which — it is obvious — they are not. Not only is India a weak link economically through its rupee but in fact Brazil is hardly a balanced economy. The less said about South Africa, the better. Russia has made it clear which currency it believes is the most reasonable candidate for cross border trade and it’s not the rupee.

  2. It should added that China is the leading builder of infrastructure in the developing world and nations can always accumulate RMB to fund these projects. The days when US companies like Bechtel actually built anything productive (versus military-related) have long passed. As for India, we’ll, they have always supplied labor for these projects along with other third world countries such as the Philippines. Ask yourself: who supplied the labor for the US railroads as they moved west? China went through that phase too. Now it provides planners, engineers and project managers.
