@ashyclaret Not yet. The Russians can’t seem to control or hold the cities in any meaningful way. If they garrison them, they don’t have enough troops to advance. If they don’t, the cities become a potential dagger at their back, especially if defense forces can retake a city (as has happened). Advance is slow because the Russian forces are in danger of being flanked at every move. If they protect their flanks, they don’t have enough force concentration to advance. It’s a stalemate and this stalemate favors the defender. The attacking force doesn’t have unlimited supplies, and Russia is out of cash to resupply stocks of munitions, rations, equipment and equipment parts. What reserve supplies they do have are largely reserved for the actual defense of Russia against all her neighbors (Russia has quite a long border) and to quell internal unrest. One estimate I’ve heard is that Russia has about 10 days worth of supplies to continue the stalemate.

Putin has nearly reached the limit on his war credit card. He must be thinking, Just one more charge!

@TheDrAstrov If Russia were to put the rest of its army into the invasion, it would leave its borders unguarded. They’d be trusting NATO and other countries to not invade, which would finally put the lie to their fear of NATO. No, Russia has put all available forces into Ukraine and is scraping the bottom of the barrel. Their “new” equipment is not being held in reserve for this fight, but held in reserve to defend all of Russia’s borders or in those provinces where Putin fears unrest. Neither the soldiers nor that equipment are heading to Ukraine. Putin is running out of cannon fodder.
