  1. The HAD enough money. A billion rubles is worth about 10 million dollars today. Sure, they might have hard currency reserves of dollars and euros, but now they can’t buy the necessary equipment on the open market. I don’t know what that does to the price, but I’m pretty sure there’s a substantial mark up on the black market.

  2.  @juno1597  I’d argue the opposite. China and the US (and the rest of the world) are equally dependent on TSMC, and if either or both are reliant, Taiwan is safe. It’s only if both China and the U.S. aren’t dependent that Taiwan is less safe.

  3.  @benjaminlynch9958  Add to that the cost of acquiring the equipment to make the equipment. Did you see what has happened to the ruble. This project’s funding was reduced to 1% almost overnight. Putin has crippled Russia.
