@eileenfuentes6975 Trump and the Republicans have said that the issues with the border can wait until next year, so I guess it’s not a pressing crisis after all.

@mghegotagun So don’t falsify documents and commit fraud in New York. Why is that hard to understand? And when you’re being sued for fraudulently inflating the value of your property, don’t say, “everybody does it”, that’s an admission of guilt.

@eddiegesch6299 He and Habba were prevented from making campaign speeches and verbally attacking employees of the court. This didn’t prevent him and his lawyer from mounting a credible defense. The exculpatory evidence the Trump team presented wasn’t convincing, and Trump’s own words were used against him.

@SuperCaliforniaBarbi A multinational bank’s subsidiary might be licensed in New York, as you say, but they will have other subsidiaries that can loan him the money. But he’ll still have to put up the collateral for those loans. I suspect that many U.S. banks (and subsidiary banks) are incorporated in Delaware, not New York.

Did you skip school on the day they covered adverbs?

@rochellegorcheck3772 He will (it’s why he moved to Florida), but now his New York real estate assets will go to paying the fines.
2
@mghegotagun The crime is falsifying business documents.

@jamIam6548 LATE STAGE CAPITALIZATION

@eddiegesch6299 He filed fraudulent documents to obtain loans. It doesn’t matter if he paid back the loans. He still committed fraud by falsifying information on the loan applications. If you got caught doing the same, you probably would go to jail in addition to paying fines and your credit would be forever ruined. Trump is getting off lightly, believe it or not.
1
@Yeaitsej This. And the testimony from different witnesses show that Trump ordered the documents be falsified and his sons made sure it happened.
1
lol, it’s funny but it’s true. Although I have to say that the post victory press conference was also funny because it was so overly dramatic.
1
Are you saved? How can you be sure?
1
@TheDuravida That’s false.
1
He can use his real estate assets as collateral for a bond.
1
@rando6836 If anyone will loan him the money. If he finds someone, he’ll use his real estate assets as collateral (and not have to sell).

@tclyde865 The economy is objectively ridiculously good. The Republicans are telling outright lies that the economy is falling apart. I’m not sure the border is really in crisis, because the GOP negotiated a great deal by holding foreign aid hostage, and then killed the deal. The GOP decided that the border “crisis” can wait until next year. It’s more important to keep the “crisis” alive as a campaign issue than to try and solve it. Trump is saying this. Republican Congresspeople are saying this. The truth is that the Republican senators played hardball against the Dems and won all the concessions. The genius move was tying the aid to the border issue. The Dems can complain it was dirty politics, but it was a genius move and forced Biden and the Dems to give in to Republican demands. This should have been a Republican political victory. It was a weird sort of loyalty to Trump that killed the deal. The kindest explanation is that there isn’t really a border crisis. The worst explanation is that there is a crisis that the Republicans could have solved and were solving, but they’d rather hurt the border states so that Trump can have a campaign issue.

@taskcasburn6086 It’s going to keep unfolding because Trump created all this chaos in the first place by breaking laws. I am totally fatigued with Trump and MAGA, but we’ve got to see it through. Hopefully the GOP will survive in some form after Trump is gone.

@eddiegesch6299 there is no pending divorce. Not yet anyway. Probably won’t be, although Melania certainly has grounds for one. But there’s no telling what Melania will put up with and if she’ll have a final straw.

I think Biden is still OK. He might not be in the future, and the idea of VP Harris becoming President doesn’t thrill me. This is more like getting your leg amputated (Trump) vs having to wear orthopedic shoes (Biden). I don’t want either but force to choose between the two, I’ll wear the stupid shoes. And you know what? The economy is doing great by any objective measure. Attempts to solve other issues are being blocked by a handful of attention-seeking Republican extremists.

Here’s the thing: exculpatory evidence must be convincing. If the testimony was weak or not very credible, it won’t win against stronger and more credible evidence. The evidence against Trump—even Trump’s own words before the trial—proved that Trump overinflated his properties’ value in the loan applications.

Hubba hubba! I mean Habba Habba!
1
@troyjenkins3886 That’s not true. I don’t know if you’re lying out of ignorance or intentionally spreading a falsehood, but you are lying either way.

Some people who voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020 are washing their hands of Trump and walking away. I assume some will vote for Biden and others will sit out the election. Abraham Lincoln famously said, “You can fool all of the people some of the time, you can fool some of the people all of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.” Eventually people, including those who initially supported Trump, see that the Emperor has no clothes.
1
@@willschrank How about Warren Buffet? Bill Gates? It’s not the getting sued that’s the issue. It’s getting sued and losing because all the evidence shows that you committed fraud.
1
@taskcasburn6086 Those suits aren’t over fraud and falsifying business documents. If a suit against a business is frivolous, it gets thrown out. If the business is at fault for wet floors, they pay someone’s medical bills.
1
@taskcasburn6086 Those records are evidence in the case. They’re publicly available on the court docket, so go get them yourself.
1
He’s got collateral, so I think he will eventually find someone.
1
Eh, the prosecuting attorney didn’t testify. A post victory press conference isn’t witness testimony in court.
