Oh, but it’s so much worse. He didn’t merely refuse to investigate. He told the family he was investigating—even giving them an update to say he was conducting interviews of the people in the video. This case is the tip of an iceberg. I won’t speculate as to what sort of criminal activity is being conducted by officials in the Marlboro County Probate Court and Sheriff’s Office, but I bet it’s been going on for decades—we already know that the senior Probate Judge was running interference for the woman he appointed deputy judge, and now the Sheriff is consulting with the previous sheriff? If this was an isolated case, these various officials wouldn’t be covering up for the woman who was appointed to be the deputy probate judge. I doubt the sheriff would put his career on the line for his cut of $20,000 worth of dog collars. I wonder what sort of stuff this reporter, Jody Barr, is learning but can’t report because he hasn’t yet found supporting evidence.

@jeremybeattie5235 Sure, but it would be unconstitutional to make getting a voter ID cost money or be difficult to get. All costs should be bourn by the state.

There’s the older probate judge, the city or county prosecutor who failed to prosecute for the felony firearm charges, and the PD that is covering up the firearm “investigation” from the victim by telling her she can’t have documents or that they don’t exist. Nor did they notify her of the trial. Pure speculation on my part: it’s the old probate judge that is running the racket, bullock is his helper/sidepiece, and the police chief and district attorney are in on it. Small town corruption.

Unfortunately, a no fly zone is imposed AFTER air supremacy has been achieved. To achieve air supremacy, NATO would need to attack Russian forces, escalating the war. This might become necessary, but it’s not to be undertaken lightly. It’s horrible that thousands of Ukraine civilians are dying and that many thousands more are losing their homes and having their lives uprooted, but that must be weighed against the potential deaths of millions of people, and possible long term fall out for billions.

Ever try to make friends with a home invasion robber shooting at your family?

@amariza21 His concern is that he gets paid in rubles, and they’re worth less than toilet paper. He’s considering transferring back to the QANON department at the troll farm, because no one believes his Russian propaganda BS.

@daisyterry9508 You’re thinking of the probate judge whom she worked for and who made her the deputy probate judge? He was pretty cagey during the attempt to interview him. We can only speculate at this point what investigators will find. Was he merely an old fool having an affair? Or is his protege’s scam the tip of probate fraud iceberg that he’s been conducting for years. I imagine state investigators are going over a lot of old probate cases and such.

Or maybe your problems pale in comparison to what Ukraine is enduring.

Real journalism never stopped. What happened is that the politically powerful convinced the public that unfavorable reporting was fake and politically motivated. And the supporters of those powerful politicians lapped it up while getting spoon fed more lies.

The original looters were dumb. They figured that the soon-to-be deputy judge would protect them. She was dumb—she figured that the sheriff would seize the video evidence and bury it. She figured that her boss, the senior probate judge that appointed her, would protect her. The sheriff not investigating the complaint while telling the complainants he was tells us that he was giving them the runaround and delaying. I believe in technical legal terms he was “jerking them off”. What they (they meaning the larger criminal organization) didn’t count on was the local news getting involved. They didn’t count on a reporter like Jody Barr, tenaciously pursuing this story and holding on to it like a pit bull. I suspect there is a lot more to come.

That investigation isn’t finished. I’d rather that the investigators do a good job rather than a hurried one. Once the investigation is finished, I’m afraid you will still be disappointed that the authorities are not meeting your timeline. Defendants have the constitutional right to a speedy trial, but usually opt for more time in order to prepare their defense. Judges generally grant reasonable delays to afford the defense time to prepare. So it could easily be one or two years AFTER the investigation is complete before there is a trial.

@JL1009 Nah, they’re disinfo operatives working in a Russian Troll farm. The Russian government has cut social media access for most Russians, so 99.99% that these are working for Russian military intelligence, trying to sow confusion. It’s funny how little traction they’re getting. It’s likely to be a single person, posting comments and replies to themselves with multiple accounts.

Imagine if we cared about spelling.

It’s a “family name”. His grandfather or great grandfather. They were all important lawyers in the county.

Wasn’t it city hall that overrode the police and brought state LE into the case?

@paulao7022 The Soviet Union didn’t dissolve. It rebranded.

Honestly never thought I’d respect Kavanaugh as a bigger intellect than Alito. But here we are.

Something is rotten in that county and I suspect it’s a lot more than just this one case. Would the senior judge and the sheriff stick their necks out, protect the deputy judge (who wasn’t even sworn in at the time), and cover up the crime for $20,000 in dog collars? Why would the sheriff consult with the former sheriff after he was confronted by reporters? We can only speculate about the size and nature of their criminal enterprise and how far back in time it goes, but I’d bet money it goes back decades. I think the senior judge and the former sheriff are implicated. I think the new sheriff “inherited” his role from the previous sheriff. State law enforcement is investigating this one case, but I hope they’re looking at the bigger picture of small town corruption (or country in this case.)

@George-ur8ow nice counter argument.

Russia doesn’t have “half of eastern Ukraine”. And they don’t have full control of what territory they have conquered, judging by the flank attacks and attacks in their rear areas we’ve seen over the last week. They don’t have the man power to secure those areas. The first week we learned that Russian logistics was poor and the Ukrainian fighting spirit was high. Second week we learned that Russia’s ground tactics were so poor it had to attack and terrorize civilians. This week we are learning that the phrase “Russian controlled” is a misnomer. They only control the ground where they stand, at best, and there aren’t enough Russian soldiers to stand everywhere in Ukraine.

And it wasn’t going to be a member any time soon. It had already been rejected. Finland also didn’t have an interest in joining NATO before the Russian invasion, despite the prior conflicts. Now they’ve applied. Putin has pushed his neighbors into the arms of the West.
2
If there is a larger criminal enterprise involving local officials, the sheriff won’t want to do the “honorable thing”. He’s in a better position to defend himself and his co-conspirators if he remains in office. He has been delaying and covering up the deputy probate judge’s criminal activity in hopes it will blow over—but he’s sticking his neck out way too far for what appears to be a minor case. I hope state investigators are looking at the bigger picture—long term conspiracies that unfold over decades and that are (in part) conducted in broad daylight and with impunity leave a lot of loose threads. The conspiracy could unravel quickly if state investigators look for the threads.

He was speeding for a good reason. He was being pursued by an orgy.

The Russian government has cut of the Russian people’s access to social media. 99.99% chance that any Russians still posting to social media are bots and trolls on the Putin payroll. Too bad for them the ruble’s exchange value has plummeted. Their pay and savings has essentially dropped to nothing. At some point they’ll find it more lucrative to dig through trash, looking for recyclables.

They do, but their air force is smaller.

He doesn’t have rich parents. In fact, he’s an orphan. Can you find it in your heart to have some mercy for an orphan? 😥

HEEEEEYYYYY!! Mooch! This guy used to land fighter jets on top of floating landing strips. Thanks for your insights, Ward!

@krittenhousefreeman9610 Anti-Christ? Putin wishes he was that big a deal. He’s just another communist dictator, serving the deceiver. The USSR never completely collapsed, it just rebranded. Same thugs and kleptocrats in control.

@skunky1-1 Sucking at logistics means your military force is weak. There’s one logistics battalion for every three divisions. I’m not sure if this is current, but each logistics battalion has 650 trucks. A little more than 200 trucks to supply each division, and they can’t move on the roads with any speed between the railroads in Belarus and the front lines due to the convoy traffic jams. I suspect that they are also suffering from decades of corruption. Imagine opening a crate of ammo and discovering it half filled with rocks because half of the ammunition was sold to arms dealers. NOW you understand why your battalion commander drives a Ferrari.

@krittenhousefreeman9610 I never thought I’d be thumbing up someone with your user name, but I’m glad you’re posting. I think Kyle was not guilty of a crime, but he was an irresponsible gun owner who went looking for trouble. Irresponsible gun owners make it that much harder for 2A supporters to fight for their right to own firearms. It’s not persuasive. Ukraine shows just how vital the Second Amendment is, imho. Yet despite our disagreement (or what I imagine is a disagreement), here we are on the same side. Bless you, brother.

This is going to turn into True Detectives, season 1, isn’t it?

No fly zones are set up after air supremacy is achieved. To achieve air superiority in Ukraine means to attack Russian aircraft and ground based defenses in Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia. This escalation of the conflict is not to be undertaken lightly. It’s a terrible calculus: thousands of Ukrainian lives being lost now vs millions in Ukraine, Europe, and possibly world wide if the conflict escalated to nuclear weapons.

But what happens when your own maskirovka starts working on you? You sit there at the one end of a very long table, your generals at the other end, and the culture of maskirovka you’ve built at all levels of your society prevents you from getting accurate information from those men at the far end of the table, 6 meters away. Putin is in a house of mirrors of his own construction.
