I lost a gallon of milk and I received 4 Quart Martials. True story.

@ryelor123 That’s the old CPAC, when it actually represented something resembling conservatism.

@ryelor123 It’s not the first time I’ve seen an unhappy person trying to grift money off of other unhappy people by blaming something on “the libruls”. Far from it. You see, I was registered as a Republican for 25 years and they still keep sending me campaign fundraising emails. So, yeah, I’ve seen a lot of grifters playing the victim in the last seven years. Soldier boy here has all the makings for a career in politics.

@alaric_ including training armor that he lost . . . when? Before deployment? Was it something he was reissued after his return from Afghanistan? This is a con.

@ryelor123 I don’t know that much about the insurance business or specifically about auto insurance. I just know that I need to have it if I want to own and operate a motor vehicle. From that basic starting point I can learn on my own what minimum coverage I need, what extra coverage I might want, and where to buy it. I wasn’t born knowing this and I didn’t need special training. I just needed to make a minimal effort at research. The specialist here doesn’t have to understand the ins and outs of the supply bureaucracy. He just has to know he’s accountable for the gear he was issued as his starting point. From there he can ask people questions and figure out solutions to his problem. And he had two years to do it. The kindest interpretation is that the guy spent his free time jacking off and now is trying to get others to cover for his mistake (while blaming the Biden administration for his self-created problem 😂). A worse interpretation is that he intends to con gullible right wingers out of many thousands of dollars over the value of the equipment he lost.

@b52-hnukesr69 You also want to ignore the grift and make this about politics?
4
@embracethesuck1041 So, “nobody told me”. Was your MOS being a mushroom? You know what being a mushroom is like, right? They feed you a lot of shit and keep you in the dark.

@bcuniverse_ Property return, but not property inventory.
3
@1chumley1 so you’re saying that his NCO was in on it with Biden?
2
@gorkyd7912 Didn’t he get deployed for the withdrawal, for like two weeks? I’m sure he was deeply emotionally invested in the mission.

The dude is trying to launch his own political career. The first question they ask you is, “can you scam people out of money by playing the victim and blaming the libruls?”. And this guy can just pull out his phone and show the video.
2
@kittymervine6115 He has a promising career in politics.
2
The Pandemic stimulus checks were a bipartisan effort.

Would the strong possibility that the soldier has made money in excess of the original claim influence your decision? I suspect that this matter has crossed over into the realm of criminal fraud: he’s scamming the public by misrepresenting facts, and he’s doing it wearing an army uniform. (If he set up a gofundme or indiegogo, there would be a public facing record of money donated, and he would be expected to shut it down when his goal was reached.) I certainly can appreciate not wanting to waste time on a subpar person for petty infractions as he’s on his way out the door. But hasn’t this already gone beyond a minor problem that’s taking care of itself?

@benjaminshropshire2900 it sort of reminds me of when I used to track my budget and the biggest line item was always “miscellaneous expenses”. Maybe I should have recorded it as “mule accident losses”.
1
@stevenroshni1228 I bet the dude didn’t even write the President, begging for clemency.
1
@1975lap You’re being quite kind to call this a rant-for-likes deal. It’s a literal scam for money.
1
@gorkyd7912 If the essence of his grievance is the withdrawal from Afghanistan, why blame Biden for a withdrawal negotiated by the previous president?
1
He used Venmo. At least with a Gofundme, potential victims can see if he reached his $3500 goal, but with Venmo he can keep up the grift and rake in the cash. Another reason he wouldn’t want to use Gofundme is that they hold on to the money for a while, possibly long enough for this sort of fraud to be uncovered. If I wanted to engage in a quick scam and get my ill gotten money before anyone was the wiser, I’d use a cash transfer app rather than a fundraising one.
1
@GeistView if you wouldn’t jump without it, why would you get on a plane without it?
1
@macmedic892 Venmo. He’s not fund raising, he wants cash transfers. If he went through GFM, they hold the cash for a period of time, possibly long enough for his scam to unravel. If he went through GFM, how much was donated could be tracked and how close he was to meeting his goals. With Venmo, he could be far above his stated goal and still accepting donations from victims. There’s no way to tell.
1
@Peter09876- there’s monetizing and then there’s “monetizing” (begging for untracked cash donations via Venmo).
1
@stevenroshni1228 Which means he doesn’t urgently need you to Venmo him the money, as he is begging you to do. There’s so many suss loose threads here.
1
It’s almost as if no one remembers that the checks were a product of bipartisan effort. The issue wasn’t whether, the issue was how much.
1
@Seth9809 Well, seeing as how Biden was criticized by some for not postponing the date of withdrawal, let me take a wild guess. It was Obama! 😂
1
The bottom line is that this is a scam, and his target audience is people embracing grievance culture who feel personally victimized by Biden. You know, the ones who send money in the hundreds of millions to a certain politician’s legal defense fund. If 1,000 people who say it venmo-ed him $5, he’s already cleared $1500 above the amount he claims he owes. I suspect the amount he’s made is higher than that. If he can avoid or beat criminal fraud charges, he has a promising career in politics.
1
@macmedic892 when all you got is shit, make shit-ade.
1
@Khronogi You’d think a blue dog would be able to find a clue, wouldn’t you? Apparently not.
