  1. Fun, fun, fun! After years and years of suffering through this insufferable man, we are beginning to get some satisfaction. He’s finally finally hit some limits on his clowning and is clowning himself. What makes these documents so great is that this is all self-inflicted. It’s all hubris. A year ago, he could have said, “Oopsie, sorry ‘bout that, here’s the records I inadvertently took.” And it would have gone away. Another funny aspect is that this case is going to be the most clear cut in terms of prosecution. The laws are clear, the evidence is unambiguous. Nailing him for January 6th is nowhere near as clear and will be more difficult to prove. Sure, he’d still have ALL the other legal issues he’s currently facing. But I think this is the one they will get him on first. (And regardless of which case resolves first, the documents case was the first to score a real hit. It’s finally shaken the base.)

  2. If the MAGAs are to be believed, Team Trump asked for Dearie because they thought he’d be pissed and feeling vengeful against the DOJ because of the Carter Page warrant. That’s the mentality of these guys. They think everyone is as corruptly transactional as they are. It’s incomprehensible that someone would sincerely devote themselves to upholding the rule of law, or any other higher ideal. In the minds of the MAGA grifters (and this goes for the MAGA suckers, too), everyone has some kind of angle, everyone is engaged in a scam. Idealistic people are merely performing their ideals, they don’t really hold them.

  3. The documents don’t each have to be read in full. There is already a list of the documents. All the Special Master needs to do is check that a document matches the description on the list. If Dearie is correct and the work can be completed by October 7th, his assistant will get paid $40,000 for 10 days work. That is peanuts. The part that hurts Trump isn’t the cost, it’s that he’s just been called out for his long history of payment shenanigans, of cheating people and ripping them off. It’s a well deserved slap in the face. Dearie knows how to humiliate Trump using soft language. Trump knows he is being humiliated. He knows that people are laughing at him.

  4.  @LLL-zt3fz  What do you think the next delay will be? The case is cut and dried, BUT Trump has not been indicted. We are still in the pre-indictment investigation phase. This was Trump’s shot at delaying or shutting down the investigation. Absent new bombshells, the special master’s activities will be done in a few weeks. The 11th circuit has tied Judge Cannon’s hands: if she doesn’t follow Dearie’s recommendations, the DOJ will file another appeal with the 11th circuit. The 11th circuit has demonstrated they will work with all dispatch in this matter.
