  2.  @Glade4  Seriously? A factory doesn’t need to be a sweat shop. Prices would go up to improve conditions and workers’ wages, but not crazy handmade prices. That said, people used to sew their own clothes (a few still do). I wonder how many people have taken it up as a hobby during this pandemic.

  3. None of us can, outside of a few high end professionals that will use this equipment to make money. And they’ll probably lease the equipment, anyway. Most video professionals are going to find the iMac Pro sufficient. I’m not going to lie, though. This video made my butthole wet.

  13. Xonio The OS is free with purchase, and all upgrades are free. You are completely ignorant about monitors. You cannot get a “better monitor for less”. You can get a “more than adequate computer monitor” for much less, but this is a reference monitor. Nearest equivalent (from Sony) is around $30k.

  17.  @too2great8  Agreed. But if you’re saving for one rather than paying for it for it from your business earnings, is it a business purchase or a lifestyle purchase? I’d argue that most people buying the Mac Pro can afford it because they really need it to become more profitable. The few people that are buying it that don’t really need all its power are either making a bad business decision or are very rich super-consumers. The Mac Studio lacks a lot of features absolutely needed by 1% of users, such as slots and bays. For the other 99%, those slots and bays would be nice to have, but aren’t strictly necessary or can’t be satisfied by external devices (I’m thinking e-gpu chassis, as an example). For those 99%, the Mac Studio with either the Ultra or Max packages will be sufficient. That said, there are a few unknowns. Are there 4 independent Thunderbolt busses or shared busses? Same question for the USB-C busses. All that said, this new kit is overkill for me, yet within reach. An M1 equipped Mac is sufficient for my moderate needs for the time being. I’m just happy that this Mac Mini Pro is available if my needs grow, and that it’s affordable. To be honest, I’m more excited about the new display, which we Mac fanatics have been begging for for years. It’s pricey for a 27” monitor, however. Yet it’s also priced lower than I thought it might be.

  18. I renamed my iPhone SE 2020 “iPhone 9”. Call the 13 whatever you want. But you’re wrong to say nothing changes because the changes don’t appeal to you this year. That’s just being self-centered and childish. Are you really going to suffer from an emotional breakdown because this year’s model wasn’t exactly what you wanted? No, you won’t, because you’re an adult not a baby. Maybe next year Apple will produce a phone more to your liking.

  21.  @arthurdark3945  It’s probably more than a few thousands of businesses that need the power, and a minuscule number of people that are “lifestyle” buyers—current Mac Pro pricing means it’s the very rich hyper consumer that would buy just because they want it. The majority of pro users will get along just fine with either of these Mac Studio versions.

  22.  @Freedom_Addict  Yes, but if her current phone is more than good enough, the same thing will be truer next year or in two years. If there is no compelling reason to upgrade your one or two year old phone, don’t do it just for slight performance gains right now. You’ll get even better performance next year or the year after. If price were no object, I’d consider going for the 13 Pro Max because of the camera improvements, but that’s just me. The new lenses and bigger sensor won’t matter to a lot of people.

Does this new iMac design have an optional VESA mount? 🧐 The fast user switching with the fingerprint reader seems pretty fantastic. I hate the current user switching.

  38. Serious question? Yes, but you’ll probably want to upgrade the graphics card. Stock is a Radeon Pro 580x/8GB RAM. Next level is Radeon Pro Vega II/32GB. Maxed configuration is 2 x Radeon Pro II Duo which will give you a whopping 128GB of graphics RAM.

  50. Obvs. Did any of you know that there was an “iMac Pro” in that original form factor? The color was “graphite”, not space gray. Look up “iMac DV SE” if you don’t believe me. 😄 It was basically the same as the fruity slot loading iMacs, but came standard with more memory and storage. It was pitched at “serious” DV video creators. Lol, DV, aka digital video was once a new and amazing thing.
