They will be. This sort of activity has to be permitted and planned. The potential crowd must be estimated to determine how many cops must be hired and if street closures will be necessary to accommodate the crowd. I understand this person has a following in the hundreds of thousands or millions. If the authorities want to discourage this sort of behavior, they should prosecute him criminally and file civil charges for any damage or injury that resulted.

@Coop1250 3 indicts so far, this year, but it’s actually a total of 78 charges for all of these criminal indictments. There’s also at least one civil suit for fraud ongoing (with the trial set for early next year). Not that Trump’s legal problems really have anything to do with this jackpot. But still, 78 charges so far with more on the way! 😂

@robschannel4512 It’s the DA that will make that determination if a crime occurred and whether to prosecute. I’m pretty certain there’s a basis for a criminal prosecution here.

Criminal charges are definitely possible, even if the intent of the streamer was “altruistic” or benign (it wasn’t). The streamer assembled the crowd when he announced the give away. Let’s be clear that the motivation for such giveaways is self-promotion. He is trying to increase his audience and increase his ad revenue. Such gatherings require permits, hiring cops, etc. If this was unpermitted or (worse) if he had been refused a permit, he will also be liable for damages and injuries. If the authorities want to stop these things, they will want to prosecute the streamer to the maximum extent (followed by civil charges). When the instigators are criminally and financially punished, there will be fewer incentives for such harebrained schemes.

@AverageJoe483 Read the indictment and have someone explain the charges. They’re not accusing Trump of causing the January 6th violence from his speech that day. They’re avoiding that because they can get him without litigating free speech. The Trump attorneys claiming it’s a free speech issue are lying. That’s their only defense, but it’s a defense for a crime that hasn’t been charged.
